Job H'a'unting!

Looking for a job or planning to change from your existing job...you would know the agonizing truth of being a job-seeker.

Past (25 years back) : The only option to look for job was through job postings in the newspaper. Attach a cover letter along with the resume and snail-mail it to the recruiter. Then starts the long wait of a response but it did come, if only to inform that another candidate was suitable for the job. Atleast there was transperancy and acknowledgement.

Present: When seeking for a job, the first thing we do is explore the several highly promoted job sites in hope of finding the well-suited job. But sooner or later, we realise that effort is not exactly giving 'efforts'. There are diverse options now - job sites, newspaper/ online job advertisments, employe referrals, head hunters, multi-skilled job openings, and many more... With the increase in the number of job-seekers, it seems to be a steal if one has a relative/friend in the company one wishes to apply. The resume is accelerated without the fear of it being idling in some never-accessed and out-of-quota inbox. However this still doesnt guarantee you that you get a job. Couple of followups are still required either by you or your employee-friend to the HR. Why are all corporate preaching professionalism in their Vision statements is providing feedback not an etiquette?

Future (25 years later) : Waiting the next revolution of job hunting...on different planets, is it?

Am wondering if job hunting was easier few years back or is it now??
