Being an avid reader, a book accompanies me everywhere. I literally sleep with one. Can’t let go of this habit - am sure every book lover will agree. You will also agree how few rare copies are hard to get these days...and of course they come with a 'big' price too.
Various book stores let you browse a book at leisure, while sitting on an ottoman, before you purchase it. I like the concept of Book Cafe (who thought of it?) where you can pick your favorite book and read it sipping hot espresso coffee. Now, who wouldn’t love it??
Ah, is this how OnDemandBooks got the idea of manufacturing the Espresso Book Machine (EBM). Well, here’s a machine which can automatically print, bind and trim a quality book on demand in minutes and for a penny a page. With 4-color covers, the books are indistinguishable from the factory made original. Having affiliating with Open Content Alliance, EBM can print over 300,000 digital files as of now. World Bank and various libraries have installed EBM and have archived (and of course preserved) all their articles, books and other files. A cryptographic method has been employed to help secure the network. As more EBM’s are adopted by bookstores, libraries and other venues across the globe, it will be soon when we will EBM in every coffee shop.
I wish I had a depository to save the masterworks from my grandfather’s library. There were so many which I want to read again and so many which went away un-read.
